December 08, 2009 Tri-City News

Shawn Lam, a Coquitlam-based corporate and event video producer, has received the BC Professional Videographers Association’s Distinguished Service Award.

The award recognizes video professionals for outstanding industry contributions and business success, and has been awarded on only three previous occasions in the association’s 14-year history. In 2003 Lam served his first of five terms as BCPVA president and in 2005 he received the Merited Professional Videographer Accreditation from Florida based WEVA, the largest event video association of its kind. Lam is the only Canadian MPV accredited video producer and one of only 17 in the world.

In addition to writing columns for the industry’s most influential trade publication, Lam is a sought-after product reviewer for several industry giants including Sony, Adobe, and Sachtler. Locally, he teaches video business strategy as an instructor for BCIT’s FilmFLEX program, which educates the next generation of independent video producers.
